Elton John Upset With Mom Over Interview

Sir Elton John will keep paying his mum’s bills – despite her sharing intimate details of why they fell out.

The star is said to be furious after Sheila ­Farebrother, 90, told an interviewer they had not spoken for seven years since he allegedly said he “hated” her.

Sheila blamed Elton’s husband David Furnish for the rift, while claiming her son insisted she cut contact with their old friends Bob Halley and John Reid.

She claimed Elton’s former assistant Halley and ex-manager Reid had helped elevate him to worldwide fame.

But the Rocket Man singer has told pals he will keep supporting Sheila financially, as he had done for the past four decades.

A friend said: “He is upset and cross, but people should remember that Elton pays all of her bills and that won’t stop.

“Despite everything, Sheila is his mother and he couldn’t see her struggle financially, or go without medical care she needs as a 90-year-old woman.

“But he feels extremely sad that it has come to this – it is without a doubt the worst things have been in the seven years since they fell out.

"What a terrible shame it has come to this. Elton hopes that people don’t believe everything they read.”

The singer looked glum on Thursday as he and David, 52, ­celebrated his 68th birthday at Mr Chow’s restaurant in Beverly Hills, near their home in LA.

Sheila and Elton’s feud was reignited earlier this month when she hired £2,200- a-night Elton impersonator Paul Bacon for her birthday party at her home in West Sussex.

And Elton was even more upset this weekend when Sheila claimed their rift began over a “petty and stupid” row after he asked her not to speak to Halley and Reid.

She said: “I told him I’m not about to do that and drop them. Bob is like a son to me, he always has been marvellous to me and lives nearby and keeps an eye on me.

“Then to my utter amazement, he told me he hated me. And he then banged the phone down. Imagine. To me, his mother.

“He told me I thought more of Bob Halley than of my own son.

“And to that I said to him, ‘And you think more of that f***ing thing you married than your own mother’.”

Sheila was referring to David, with whom Elton has two sons.

Her outburst came after an earlier row over Elton and David’s civil partnership ­ceremony in 2005.

She claimed David was angry she refused to wear a hat.
