The son of a high-ranking diplomat has been killed after taking his mum's official BMW for an 'armed showdown with a drug dealer'.
Privately educated Jean Wabafiyebazu, 17, and his 15-year-old brother Marc both took guns when they went to meet suspected drug dealer Joshua White before shooting broke out.
Jean and Mr White, 17, were both killed in the incident in Miami on Monday.
Marc and 19-year-old suspected drug dealer Anthony Rodriguez were both arrested on suspicion of murder under laws where people involved in a crime which leads to a fatality can be charged with murder.
Jean and Marc's mum is the Canadian Consul General in Miami, Roxanne Dubé.
The boys' heartbroken dad Germano Wabafiyebazu said they told their mum they were borrowing her car, which had diplomatic plates, to go for a drive.
He told Canadian broadcasters Global News: "Jean had an appointment with someone he knew who sells marijuana so he took his younger brother to the place but then they arrived he left his younger brother in the car.
"The dealer who was selling the drug killed my son so my younger son, when he heard the gunshot, came out of the car and rushed into the house and found Jean dead."
Police have said they also believe the pair had arranged to buy cannabis from the house and had taken weapons with them.
Miami Police Chief Rodolfo Llanes told the Miami Herald: "That's what we believe, it was a dispute over a drug transaction."
A Canadian Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of reports of a serious incident involving a Canadian family in Miami.
"Canadian officials are providing assistance to the family.
"A full investigation is underway and we will continue assisting local authorities.”
