Prolific YouTube artist Keaway Lafonz Ivy, who used the stage name Kealo, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest after being struck by a bullet during filming in a Washington DC car park.
According to investigators Ivy was shooting a rap video with 20 people in the car park of a Maryland housing complex when a gun being used as a prop went off at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, WJLA reported .
The 21-year-old musician was hit and killed.
Police initially said they were questioning numerous people as they investigated the death to try and find out whether it was an accidental or intentional shooting.
On Friday, police arrested 21-year-old Lafonzo Leonard Iracks and charged him in connection with Ivy's death.
Police were able to determine that Iracks was involved in filming the video but he allegedly fled the scene in the area of 62nd Place and Eastern Avenue in Seat Pleasant following Ivy's death.
Officers tracked down the 21-year-old suspect to north west Washington on Friday morning and apprehended him.
They have not commented on a possible motive for the killing.
Most of Kealo's music videos feature the 21-year-old rapper puffing on a cigarette and posing with thick stacks of bills surrounded by an entourage of young men.
Some of the low-budget recordings also feature the musician handling firearms. His Instagram account includes photographs of guns.
Ivy is survived by his young daughter, Skya, and a large extended family.
