The amazing footage, uploaded to CCTV+'s YouTube channel, shows Chang Suibin screaming in agony as more than 20 people struggle to remove the weight of the bus from his body.
After around three minutes, he was freed.
Tang said: "People nearby, passengers from the bus and pedestrians waiting at the traffic lights by this intersection all came together to lift the bus.
"We failed at first, but then more people joined in - some lifting and some pulling the victim - and eventually we got him out."
The victim, who suffered a pelvic fracture and is now receiving treatment in hospital, thanked the passers-by who stopped to save him.
Chang Suibin said: "My sincere thanks to everybody, to the friends, to the kindhearted people of Zhengzhou.... Good people can be found everywhere in our society."
