Thief Trapped In A Car He Was Trying To Steal

 Thief
A bungling crook was trapped inside a car he was trying to steal - after being outsmarted by child safety locks, police say.

The prolific thief, who was on bail after committing other offences, broke into the vehicle but the car's owner had activated the child locks on the doors.

Unable to get out, the man tried to flee when a member of the public opened the door.

But he was caught by two police officers, who were walking by at the time.

Police Duty Superintendent Del Jones said the car was parked at a building site in Jingili, Australia, on Monday evening, with the owner nearby.

He said: “The owner saw the man struggling to get out. He and another member of the public decided to open the door for to ‘have a chat’ but the man ran straight past them."

The thief had pocketed a small amount of cash which was in the car.

He is now facing charges of stealing, trespassing, and breaching bail.
