Man Killed By Alligators After Mocking Them

Man Killed By Alligators After Mocking Them (1)

A man has been killed by an alligator - just moments after he mocked the animals for daring to interfere with his swim.
Tommie Woodward and an unnamed woman were swimming in a bayou in Burkart's Marina in Louisiana on Friday.

The 28 year old was warned that the deadly animals were in the water, but it didn't stop him jumping in.
Orange County Justice of the Peace Rodney Price told KDFM that Woodward didn't heed warnings from nearby people and ignored clear signposting about the dangers in the water.
"He removed his shirt, removed his billfold ... someone shouted a warning and he said 'blank the alligators' and jumped in to the water and almost immediately yelled for help.'
Michelle Wright, a witness and marina employee, called for Woodward to stop, but he didn't pay an attention.
Afterwards, she said: "I saw his body floating face down.
"And then he's out there for a couple of seconds and then he's dragged back down.
"And then he comes back up still face down and then he gets pulled down again.

"And then he just disappears."
The woman escaped uninjured, according to reports.
Woodward had recently moved to the area from St Louis, Missouri.
Police believe that, although there have been fatal alligator attacks in Florida, this may be Texas' first.
