Brazilian superstar Neymar was handed a four-match Copa America ban after waiting in the tunnel and blasting the match official, calling him a "son of a b***h".
The Selecao skipper was sent off after the final whistle on Wednesday after his country's 1-0 Copa America defeat against Colombia and subsequently ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
After a feisty game, the Barcelona forward appeared to aim a headbutt at Los Cafeteros defender Jeison Murillo, sparking a melee that led to opposing striker Carlos Bacca also being dismissed.
However, after Neymar was shown red by referee Enrique Osses, the Champions League winner waited in the tunnel, before hurling abuse at the Chilean official.
"You want to make yourself famous at my expense, you son of a b***h", said Neymar, as detailed in the officials' report.
"He was waiting for me and insulted me, calling me a son of a b***h."
Neymar has already come under fire for his actions towards Juan Zuniga - the defender who ended his World Cup last summer - mocking the full-back by gesturing and declaring "bet you'll call me after to say sorry, you son of a b***h", following an incident at a corner.
Aberto Lozada, a member of the CONMEBOL Disciplinary Committee, said: "Based on what the report says, it was premeditated, waiting for the referee in the tunnel and insulting him.
"His punishment could have been harsher. He got off lightly."
Colombia forward Bacca, who has fired Sevilla to Europa League glory in each of the last two seasons, has also been handed a two-match ban.
