Man Attacked By Lion Relieves Moment

An Australian tourist had a lucky escape after a lion jumped through his car window and savaged his legs.

According to his Facebook page, Mr Smith had only just arrived in South Africa before he was mauled by the king of the jungle.

"No later than 36 hours after touching down in Africa I find myself in hospital after a lion jumped through the car window and decided to go to town on my legs," he posted.

"Pretty full-on but am alive, with insurance coming to the party and an influx of curious Africans wanting to see 'the lion man'.

"Could have and should have been a lot worse but chicks dig scars so I'll be sweet!"

Mr Smith also posted graphic pictures of his wounds following the terrifying ordeal.

One of the pictures shows what look like giant bite marks piercing his skin, while another is of two unidentified lions lazing on the grass.

Messages of sympathy appear below his Facebook post.

One from Brian Smith, thought to be Brendan's dad, reads: "So glad it's not worse. Very lucky lad.

You will be in pain for weeks.

"I think u should cut your losses and get on the next plane home after hospital. Take care."

Olivia Fitzpatrick wrote: "That's crazy. At least an interesting story you can tell for the rest of your life!"

Kirby Richards said: "Oh my god! You have survived some pretty crazy travel adventures, but this takes the cake. Imagine this story at the pub in 40 years time. Sending you loads of love and well wishes."

Alicia Rayner joked: "So not watching Lion King tonight?"

Mr Smith appears to recovering well, however.

This morning he posted: "A positive about being couch ridden is that I get to put my feet up and watch the Aussies claim [cricket] world cup glory..always a silver lining.

"As for me I'm out of hospital feeling good, counting my blessings and now it's the small but satisfying steps of rehab."
