Abramovich To Buy $70million Mansion In New York

Abramovich

He already owns the world's biggest yacht, but that isn't enough for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
The Russian billionaire has a host of luxury houses around the world, but he wants to go one better - by buying a $70million super mansion in New York City.

According to the New York Post, the free-spending 48-year-old is set to buy the majority of a city block, which he will eventually turn into one of the city's biggest mansions. Abramovich has been on a lengthy property search in the Big Apple, after having a $75million bid on a home overlooking Central Park Zoo turned down in 2014. Since then, he has been buying up the narrow townhouses on the Upper East Side - and area where some of the richest people ever known in New York have lived.

Abramovich $70million Mansion In New York

The Chelsea supremo spent $29.7million on a property on East 75th Street in October, before buying the house two doors down for $18.3million just prior to Christmas. It is reported that the house in between, owned by Mark Fife and his wife Lori, have reached a deal with a 'mystery Russian bidder' in the region of a further $20million.
Abramovich is reported to be hoping to build a house for himself and Dasha Zhukova - the mother of his two youngest children. However, nobody on the street previously knew about the identity of the mystery buyer. "They just got a knock on their door one day and thought a rich Russian wanted to buy their town house," a source told The New York Post.
"Had they known who it was and what he planned on doing, they would have asked for a lot more money."
